Thomas N. "Tommy" Gordon, 96, of Philpot, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. He was born February 19, 1921 in Daviess Co. to the late Harvey Thomas and Mary McKinley Gordon. Tommy was retired from General Electric after 42 ½ years as a maintenance technician and supervisor. He was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church and had served as an association member with the Daviess-McLean Baptist Association. He was a member for over 50 years of the Ensor Masonic Lodge #729. Tommy was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II where he was an aircraft radio technician and served in the South Pacific at Iwo Jima. He enjoyed wildlife, Nascar, and in the past, going to his grandchildren's ballgames, boating and skiing at Rough River. His favorite hobby was doing auto body work.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Lillie Bugg Gordon, his son, Joel Gordon and wife Donnell of Owensboro, two grandsons, Korey Reid Myles and wife Veronica of Sellersburg, IN and Tyler Thomas Gordon of Owensboro, brother, Harold Gordon of Owensboro, and a niece, Carolyn Gordon Webb of Texas.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 22, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial with full military honors will be at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday with Masonic services at 6:00 P.M. and from 12:00-2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
