Thomas E. Lewis, 75, of Owensboro, KY passed away there Wednesday, February 3, 2010. He was born in Terre Haute, IN to Ralph G. and Margaret (Mahoney) Lewis in 1934. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn A. (Davenport) Lewis in July of 2006, and by an infant daughter, Lynn Marie Lewis. He was a graduate of Wiley High School and in 1956 of Indiana State University, both in Terre Haute. He was commissioned an officer in the United States Navy in 1957 and served on active duty until 1960. He was then employed by Indiana Gas Corporation in Indianapolis and located in Owensboro, KY with his family in 1966. He was employed with Texas Gas Transmission Corporation from which he retired as Director of Corporate and Employee Communications following 30 years of service. He was a member of the Roman Catholic faith and a long time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his daughter, Lora E. Thornton and her husband Glenn; his son, Michael T. Lewis; and his grandchildren, Kyle Thornton and MaKaylee Moseley, all of Owensboro: and his sister, Jean Roy and her husband Tom of White Bear Lake, MN.
The funeral mass for Mr. Lewis is 12:00 noon Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation is from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
