Thomas "Tom" Sumner Leonard, 89, of Philpot went to be with the Lord on July, 26, 2014. Tom was born in Springfield, MO on June, 16, 1925 to the Late Albert and Gertrude Thomas Leonard. He was a member of Dawson Baptist Church, the Daviess County Lions Club, and a 50 year member of the TPA. Mr. Leonard served in the US Navy during WWII and was involved in the Normandy Invasion.
In addition to his parents Tom is preceded in death by his twin brother Richard Leonard and brother Phillip Leonard.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley Horrell Leonard; children, Thomas G. Leonard and his wife Carmelita, Lisa F. Leonard, both of Philpot, and Barbara Foster Kirker and her husband Tommy of Pelham, AL; grandson David Foster of Pelham AL, and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A celebration of the lives of Shirley and Tom, officiated by Rev. Craig Bratcher, will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Dawson Baptist Church. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Heartford House or Dawson Baptist Church.
