Thomas E. Howard, 78, of 2310 Pin Oak Dr., Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2006, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in McLean Co., Ky. to the late Hershel S. & Maggie Bennett Howard. He was an oil producer and owner of Tower Oil Co and a member of the Ky. Oil & Gas Association. He was also a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, the International Order of Oddfellows, the Travelers Protective Association, and a charter member of the Owensboro Jaycees. He was a pilot and loved flying, and was a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association and a former member of the Ayer Flying Club. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Velvet, gardening, and going fishing and hunting. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Curry and a brother, Carroll J. Howard.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Elaine V. Howard, his daughter and son-in-law, Julie & Wayne Swift of Philpot, and his son and daughter-in-law, Tim L. & Beth Howard of Lexington, four grandchildren, Anne Thomas Howard, Olivia C. Howard, Evan W. Swift, and Emily Sarah Swift, and Elaines aunt, Ann Blais of Owensboro.
Services will be at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 8, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with entombment following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
