Thomas Merritt Hobbs

Mr. Thomas Merritt Hobbs Jr. passed away at his residence on May 7, 2015 he was born on August 7, 1942 in Mayfield, KY. to the late Thomas M. Hobbs Sr. and Bernice (Playter) Hobbs.

He retired from Mount St. Joseph Conference & Retreat Center as the chef. His past time was spent watching UK basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He will be missed very much by his dog, Jackson.

Thomas was member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, a Kentucky Colonel, a graduate of Brescia College, and the Culinary Institute of America.

Thomas leaves behind his daughter: Laurie (Neil) Scott of Calhoun, sons: Rex Hobbs, Thomas Wesley Hobbs Sr. both of Owensboro, grandchildren: Joshua Ray Hobbs, Larry Loveless, Jaimie Gene Hobbs Jr., Thomas W. Hobbs Jr., Kristin Hobbs, Brandon Hobbs, Jacob Merritt Hobbs, Laurine Scott, David Scott. Brothers: John Richard (Cindy) Hobbs of Woodstock, GA., James Ray (Jan) Hobbs Sr. of Jackson, TN., Stephen Lee (Susan) Hobbs Sr. of Paducah, KY.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Janice Hobbs on July 2014, parents, son: Jaimie Gene Hobbs Sr., sister: Anita McBride.

Funeral services will be Saturday May 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Mother Catholic Church, with Father Michael Clark officiating, visitation will be Friday May 8, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m and Saturday from 10:00 am at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Online condolences may be made at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
