Thomas Elder

Thomas "Walter" Elder, 90, died on June 23, 2014 peacefully at home with family by his side. He was born July 25, 1923 to the late Henry and Mary Turner Elder. Walter was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and participated in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was retired as co-founder of PVF Supply Co. and Elder Pipe and Supply Co.

Walter was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening and maintaining a pristine yard and especially loved family get togethers. He was a member of the Owensboro Country Club and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Walter was preceded in death by wives Betty Ann Graham Elder, and Martha Jane Boxx Elder; brothers, Joseph Edward and John Elder; sisters Mary Pearl Clark Blanford, Henrietta Risley Whitehouse and Mary Ernestine Jones.

Survived by his beloved wife of 19 years Suzanne Cooper Elder; sons, Michael and Patrick (Lori) Elder; brothers, Richard and Clarence (Carmen) Elder all of Owensboro; Grandchildren, Courtney, Austin and Andrea Elder of Owensboro, Harmony (Paul) Lehecka of Philpot, Holly (Rick) Lehecka of Spring Grove, Illinois and 6 great- grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Friday June 27, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7pm on Thursday June 26, 2014 and from 10-11:30am on Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be at 7pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
