Thomas Kendall Dickinson

Thomas Kendall Dickinson, 95, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday evening at the Heartford House in Owensboro. Mr. Dickinson was born December 14, 1917 in Grand Rapids, MI. Mr. Dickinson graduated from Lafayette Jefferson HS, Lafayette, Indiana in 1935 and received his engineering degree from Purdue University in 1939. Tom was a 3 year basketball letterman while playing at Purdue. After graduation he entered the military and served in the 8th Army Air Force under General Hap Arnold. He flew B24 Bombers on missions while stationed in Benghazi, Libya during WW II. After serving in the Reserves until 1950, he was employed at Texas Gas Transmission Corporation until his retirement in 1980 from the Rates Department. An accomplished athlete, Tom was an avid golfer winning the Owensboro Country Club Championship 5 times, the Kentucky Senior Two Man Amateur Championship and was among the top finishers in the Owensboro City Men's Golf Tournament for several years.

He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret, father Kendall granddaughter Nicole Kay (Germantown, TN).

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Dorothy L. Dickinson. Children, Steve Hamric (Janice Havins) of Katy TX, Mike Hamric (Suzan) of Germantown, TN and Bill Hamric of Owensboro. Grandchildren Kimberly H. Cole (Kevin)and their child, Emmett Cole all of Madison, MS, and Christi Halsey (Kent McAllister)and their child, Justice Halsey all of San Felipe, TX.

A private family service will be held at Glenn Funeral Home. In lieu of Flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, Settle Memorial Methodist Church and St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
