Thomas J. Basham

Thomas J. Basham , 71, of Owensboro, died Monday April 27, 2015 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born in Daviess County on November 24, 1943 to the late TJ and Mary A. Mayfield Basham. Thomas was of the Baptist faith and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a huge die hard Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. Thomas enjoyed anything outdoors, hunting and fishing, and especially deer hunting with his friend Jerry Reed and son Tommy. He enjoyed buying and shooting guns with Tommy and his grandson Trent. Thomas also enjoyed UK Basketball, attending Frog Follies and car shows, and garage sales with his daughter Tammy.
Thomas was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Smith and Brenda Taylor; his grandmother Effie Mayfield; and his beloved black lab, Abby.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy (Bobby) Hall of Owensboro; son, Tommy J. Basham II. (Tammy Jo) of Owensboro; granddaughters, Lauren Brown (Michael Dennison) of Owensboro and Taylor (Jacob) Kotarek; grandson, Trent Basham (Jessica Nalley); great-grandsons, Tyler, Hayden, Colton, and Parker; brother, Jerry Basham of Owensboro; son-in-law, Robbie Brown; longtime companion and best friend, Dana Tichenor; ex-wife whom he was married to for 30 years, Mona Fox of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 12 noon Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Wednesday and from 10am until the time of service .
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
