Theresa Louise Saalwaechter

Theresa Louise Saalwaechter, 87, of Stanley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 25, 2018 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. On March 2, 1930, Theresa was born to the late Gilbert and Martine Young Wilson of Stanley. Theresa married Joseph E. Saalwaechter, a wonderful and loving man, on April 30, 1949.

After retiring from the American Tobacco Company, she began babysitting and cared for many children. Theresa dearly loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them and friends. Other hobbies were tending her flower gardens, playing cards, and watching U.K. basketball. Theresa was a long time member of Stanley Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph E. Saalwaechter in March of 2014, a son, Ricky Saalwaechter, a daughter, Nancy Joe Saalwaechter Huffman, two brothers, Gilbert Wilson, Jr. and Jerry Wilson, and her cherished dog, Baby.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Saalwaechter and wife Connie of Thruston and Stanley Saalwaechter and wife Kathy of Owensboro, a daughter-in-law, Melisa Saalwaechter of Owensboro, a son-in-law, Bob Huffman of Boonville, IN, a brother, Paul Jacob Wilson and wife Sherry of Stanley, a sister, Betty Daugherty and husband Glenn of Stanley, 10 grandchildren, five step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 13 step great grandchildren.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 29, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Scherer Cemetery in Stanley. Visitation will be from 1:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 8:30 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
