Theresa Rose Hagman McCarty, 87, of Utica, died peacefully in her sleep on September 9, 2016, in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. A native of Hancock County, she was born September 16, 1928, to the late Harold Victor Hagman, Sr. and Dorothy Rose Johnson Hagman. Theresa Rose was an active member of St. Anthony Parish, Browns Valley where she was a Lector, a Eucharistic Minister and active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy, had worked as the church secretary for Father Pete Lauzon and raised a family of 13 children. Theresa Rose loved to travel and enjoyed flowers and birds. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Michael McCarty; brothers, Rev. William Joseph Hagman and Francis Paul Hagman and son-in-law, Thaddeus Hagan Warren.
Survivors include her children; Mary Raley of Utica, John McCarty and his wife Carolyn of Hawesville, Sharon Warren of West Louisville, Kay Wimsatt of Owensboro, Ralph McCarty and his wife Kathy of Richmond, VA, Phil McCarty and his wife Trish of Winterville, NC, Marianne Dieball and her husband Steve of Smiths Grove, Margaret Whitehouse and her husband Mark of Utica, Bernie McCarty and his wife Kim of Lexington, Donna Howard and her husband Mark of Owensboro, David McCarty and his wife Rita of Lawrenceburg, Brian McCarty and his wife Marleda of Lexington and Annette McCarty of Bowling Green; 45 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; sisters, Mary Schelling of Louisville, Lillian Smith and her husband Jerry of Elkhorn, NE, and Dorothy Pooser of Lewisport; brothers, George Hagman and his wife Gig of Louisville, Harold Victor Hagman, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Hawesville, Dan Hagman and his wife Shirley of Hawesville, Tom Hagman and his wife Lucy of Louisville, and Charles Hagman and his wife Pat of Hawesville; sister-in-law, Frances Eula (Diddy) Hagman of Owensboro; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Services will be 10 am Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Browns Valley. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 pm until 6 pm at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where prayers will be said at 6 pm. Visitation Monday will begin at 8 am at the church. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Browns Valley.
