Thelma Dunlap Poynter

Thelma Dunlap Poynter, 90, of Owensboro passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 at The Carmel Home. Born in Stroud, in McLean County KY, a daughter of the late Frank Brooksy Dunlap and Willie Beulah Wheeler Dunlap, she moved to Owensboro to work with Ken-Rad, then General Electric, followed by MPD. Her career with the three companies spanned 56 years. Her loves were her family, her work, and her flowers. She was preceded in death by her son, Jack Poynter in 1994, her sister, Louise Dunlap Foote, and her brother Cecil Dunlap.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Gerald and Ann Poynter and her daughter-in-law, Pat Poynter, all of Owensboro; her grandchildren, Allison Karn and her husband John of Whitesville, Leigh Littlefield and her husband Mike of Bowling Green, Brad Poynter and his wife Suzanne of San Antonio, and Lauren Elizabeth Anderson and Jeffery Scott Poynter, both of Owensboro: and her great-grandchildren, Isabella Karn, Parker Humphrey, Eastin Littlefield, Jackson Littlefield, Brandon Scott Poynter, and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Anderson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are at 12:00 noon Wednesday in the chapel at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Owensboro High School Football Fund in Memory of Thelma Poynter.
