Thelma L. Jeffries

Thelma L. Jeffries, age 78, of Owensboro went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born on February 23, 1934, in Reed, Kentucky to the late Thomas and Lillie Mae Everett. She was the last of 11 children.

Thelma, along with her husband Jim are members of Thruston United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women's Group. She retired as supervisor of member accounting at Green River Electric ( Kenergy) where she was employed for 30 years. She enjoyed traveling to Lakeland, Florida to visit her sister Margaret. Thelma enjoyed making the house she and her family shared into a home. She enjoyed cooking, decorating and gardening. Her eye for detail and her love of flowers led her to create abundant and beautiful gardens in her yard. She also took great pride in looking her best and up until recently, regularly had her hair done at Cookie's.

She had a strong bond with her high school classmates and made it a point to keep her monthly lunch gatherings with them. She loved sports; of which she enjoyed UK basketball and the NFL Manning brothers.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 57 years, Jim Jeffries, daughter; Debbie Hayden (Bobby) of Utica, and son; Mike Jeffries (Susan) of Owensboro, sister; Margaret E. Everett of Lakeland, FL, grandchildren; Sarah Cunnagin ( Michael) of London KY, Melissa Hatfield ( Taylor) of Indianapolis IN, Julie Hill ( Rob) of Ft. Worth TX, Megan Hayden of Owensboro, Danielle Clary ( Gary) of Owensboro, great-grandchildren; Delaney and Ella Hatfield, Hayden Cunnagin, Ava Hill, and Peyton Clary, along with many nieces, nephews and friends, as well as her dog Sadie. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 14 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.Interment will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
