Thelma Louise Morgan Hagerman, 76, a beloved resident of Owensboro, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024, at the Heartford House while under the exceptional care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Born on October 22, 1947, in Owensboro to James and Christina Wink Morgan, Thelma led a remarkable and fulfilling life that touched the hearts of many.
Thelma's journey in education began with determination and perseverance. She earned her bachelor's degree in education from Brescia University and went on to complete her Master of Art in education. The early years of her career were spent teaching within the Owensboro City School system for a decade, making a positive impact on countless young minds at Longfellow, Lincoln, Foust, and Estes schools. After dedicating time to raising her two boys alongside her husband Dennis Hagerman, she ventured back into the professional world. Thelma spent 25 years working alongside Dennis at Comfort Design Heating and Air.
A woman of unwavering faith, Thelma and Dennis became members of Christ Community Church ten years ago, where they found solace and shared their passion for serving others. Thelma actively contributed to various church activities and initiatives such as assembling the church cookbook. Additionally, she wholeheartedly participated in the prayer shawl ministry, where she played an integral role in crafting over 1000 shawls over ten years. Her compassion knew no bounds; she selflessly extended herself to those around her without hesitation.
Through her profound love for family and dedication to fostering unbreakable bonds, Thelma leaves behind an incredible legacy. Dennis Hagerman, her loving husband of 53 years stood by her side through thick and thin. Together they faced life's challenges with grace and built a strong foundation for their two sons: Chris (Darlene) Hagerman and Stephen Hagerman. Thelma's adoring spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her four grandchildren, Carrie, Jacob, Zander, and Joey Hagerman.
Thelma was a dear sister to Mary Graf and James Morgan who find solace in the memories they shared with their beloved sibling.
The funeral service honoring the remarkable life of Thelma Hagerman will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Christ Community Church. Myke Templeton, Kurt Hoffman, and Eddie Duke will officiate the service paying tribute to Thelma's legacy of love and compassion. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation hours have been arranged for Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
