Teresa Montgomery Stallings, 70, of Owensboro has gone to her heavenly home to rest in peace. She passed away Thursday, January 10, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Stallings was born April 18, 1947, in Owensboro, to the late James Pius and Rena V. Hendrix Montgomery. She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church for the greatest part of her life and presently a member of Lourdes Catholic Church. Teresa graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy with top honors. She was Secretary of the Honor Society and Vice-President of the Crusade for Mary. Teresa also attended Brescia University. She enjoyed spending time alone in church talking to God, and volunteering and serving in various ministries at church. Teresa took pride in decorating her home, for weddings, and various occasions for family and friends. She was an excellent cook thanks to her mother and as many people know, her candy was the greatest. Teresa loved spending time with her grandchildren which was truly a joy for her. She retired from Swedish Match, formerly Pinkerton Tobacco Co., after 36 years of service.
Teresa was also preceded in death by her sister, Anna Custer in October 2006; her 2 nephews, Tim Horton in March 1993 and James Custer in April 2005; her niece, Jennifer Logsdon in October 1993; her 2 brothers-in-law, Jerry Horton in September 1997 and John Millay in March 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Goetz and her husband Jerry of Owensboro; sisters, Mary Millay, Martha Horton, and Judy Logsdon (Eddie) all of Owensboro; and three grandchildren, Emma, Evan, and Ella Claire Goetz.
A funeral mass will be 2PM Monday, January 15, 2018 at Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Pat Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2PM until 5PM Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers beginning at 4:30PM and after 1PM on Monday at Lourdes Catholic Church.
The family has requested memorial contributions take the form of donations to mass intentions or Lourdes Catholic Church.
