Teresa Helen Coomes

April 22, 1925 — March 2, 2008

Teresa Helen Coomes, 82, of Hillcrest Healthcare Center, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Hillcrest. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late S. A. and Virgie Mae Winkler Boteler. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and retired from the former Kentucky Electronics after 19 years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing bingo, and flower and vegetable gardening. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with all her family and grandchildren and loved it very much when they would visit her at the nursing home. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Coomes, Jr. on October 9, 1978, two sons, Joseph Dennis Coomes on Jan. 3, 2008 and David Eugene Coomes on Dec. 31, 2000, and brothers and sisters, Lucian A. Boteler, Sister Rose Mary Boteler, Mary William Carrico, Catherine Elizabeth Higdon, and Sissy Boteler.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas A. Coomes and wife Susan, Ivan Glenn Coomes, and Paul Francis Coomes, all of Owensboro, five daughters, Joyce Ann Lambert and husband Paul, of Owensboro, Lois Marie Hoskins and husband Charles of Maceo, Rita Faye Wood and husband Billy of Owensboro, Doris Carolyn Modest and husband Mark of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Jane Anita Coomes of Philpot, daughter-in-law, Brenda Coomes of Tell City, Ind., 25 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and three sisters, Sister Rita Marie Boteler of Owensboro, Margaret Ann Jones of Grandview, Ind., and Agnes Murphy of Lewisport.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 5, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
