Taylor Michael Widmer

Taylor Michael Widmer, 16, of Owensboro died Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Owensboro Regional Health Hospital. Taylor was a child of God, he loved Jesus, enjoyed his time spent at the Gasper River Camp and was very active at Immaculate Catholic Church. He was a junior at Apollo High School, where he was a varsity football player, a member of the track team and a member of the wrestling team. Taylor was an all-city wrestler, 13th in the State, 2nd in the Region, and the JV State Champ. He enjoyed drama and acting, made good grades and aspired to be a member of the University of Illinois wrestling team. The legacy Taylor leaves behind is kindness, a love of family, and being "the greatest kid ever".

Survivors include his parents, Mike and Andrea Widmer; sisters, Carlee Widmer of Owensboro, Megan Widmer of Nashville, TN and MacKenzie Widmer of Peoria, IL; maternal grandparents, Tony and Becky Dant of Owensboro; paternal grandparents, Ed Widmer of Peoria, IL and Debbie and Bill Anderson of Arcola, IL; great-grandmother, Carolyn Mulligan of Owensboro; aunts and uncles, Eric and Christina Dant, Nathan and Kristin Dant, Billy and Rebecca Widmer, Rob and Lynn Widmer, and Jenna Anderson; godmother, Melissa Jarboe; godfather, Nate Shepherd; and many cousins and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Immaculate Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday and after 9 a.m. on Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Gasper River Camp, Sts. Joseph Peace Mission, and the Apollo High School Wrestling Team.
