Susie Maxine Gough Ewan, 91, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at Wellington Parc. She was born in Daviess County to the late Joseph Arthur and Hallie Mae Gough.
Mrs. Ewan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was dedicated homemaker who thoroughly enjoyed cooking, family get-togethers and quilting. As a young person, Susie worked at G.E. and Daviess County Hospital. She was a 1944 graduate of Daviess County High who enjoyed reunions and continued meeting with many of her special friends. Susie was a long-time member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church where she was very active with her Sunday school class and a key part of church socials. In her last days her greatest joy came from her belief in what God prepared for her homecoming. She knew that her earthly blessings would not compare with her heavenly home.
Mrs. Ewan was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bertram Ellis (Bert) Ewan, Jr.; a grandson, Stephen Todd Burden; sisters, Nancy Lawson, Evelyn Worth and Ruby Lawson; and a brother, Gilbert Gough.
She is survived by her children, Toni Ewan Burden and her husband Steve of Lewisport, Vicki Ewan Singleton and her husband Kenny of Owensboro, Bertram Ellis Ewan III (Skip) and his wife Brenda of Hawesville, and Lorna Ewan Clause of Tucson, Az; grandchildren, Jonathan Singleton, Nicole Gorham (Trace), Travis Singleton (Diana), Renee Reel (Mike), Stuart Clause (Aaryka), Alison Franklin (Von), Leah Clause, Nathan Clause; great grandchildren, Keela, Macey, Jonathan II, Austin, Breanna, Cameron, Jimmy, Bradley, Alexis, Memphis, Autumn, Olivia, Hannah, Sydney, Finn and Sebastian; great-great grandchildren, Tripp and Turner; a sister, Wilma Wardrip of Owensboro; and many nieces and nephews.
The service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 9 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Ron Harrington will officiate. Visitation will also be Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00.
Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
