Sue Carol (Robbins) Swope, 72, of Philpot, KY departed this earth and went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully at home Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Sue was born October 15, 1945 in Hardinsburg, KY. She was the youngest of 7 children born to Alvin and Louise (Maysey) Robbins. Sue graduated from Breckinridge County High School with the class of 1964. She retired in 2007 as a payroll clerk from the Owensboro Board of Education. She had a passion for quilting and was a member of the Owensboro Quilters Guild. Sue exhibited most recently her talents of handwork and quilting as she operated her gift shop, 13 Marion located in Cadiz, KY. Sue was an active member of South Hampton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School class and held the position of Church Secretary and Clerk. She loved life and was devoted to her family, her craft, and her walk with God. Sue loved laughter and helping others. Her life's work and legacy will forever be celebrated.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Patricia Carol (Swope) Kruger; her sisters, Aliene Robbins, Shirley McAfee, Virginia Hagerman, and Mary Jo Vincent; 2 brothers, Alvin Robbins, Jr. and Waymond Robbins.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, David L. Swope of Philpot, KY; her son, Wayne Swope and partner Wayne L. Clayton of Lexington, KY; her grandchildren, Seth, Elli, and Abbey Kruger of Lexington, KY; mother-in-law, Marjorie Swope.
The service will be 2PM Saturday, November 11, 2017 at South Hampton Baptist Church. Bro. Clay Lambert will officiate. Burial will be in South Hampton Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8PM Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and 12 Noon until service time on Saturday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to South Hampton Cemetery Fund.
