Steven Douglas Long, 54, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born October 11, 1962 in Covington. Steve was a salesman for 25 years with Tapp Motors and a member of Owensboro Christian Church. He was a longtime member of the Owensboro Jaycees and was an avid cook and had Rockett Brothers Catering and then Elmo Rockett's Custom Cooking. Steve was also involved with the family's business, Long's Chevron, for 12 years. He was a Rolling Stones fan, car enthusiast, and was a big Louisville Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds fan. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Long in 1981 and his brother, Kenneth D. Long in 2007.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Pamela Messer Long, his sons, Wesley and Kiefer Long, both of Owensboro, his mother, Patricia Long of Owensboro, his sister, Melissa Kiefer of Atlanta, and niece and nephews, Sarah Kiefer and Harris Kiefer, both of Atlanta, and Jason (Gina) Long and Jared Long of Louisville.
Services will be 6:00 P.M. Thursday, January 26, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Myke Templeton officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
