Steven Bradley Higdon, 70, of Philpot passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. The Daviess County native was born December 21, 1953, to the late Lester and Virginia Davis Higdon. Steve graduated from Owensboro High School, class of 1972. He was employed as a tugboat pilot for over thirty-seven years at Big Rivers Electric. Steve loved hunting and NASCAR and was an avid UK fan. After trying to have children for over eleven years, they were blessed with three “miracle” children. Steve absolutely loved his family and their times together and became the “taxi driver” for his grandson, Tyler. With a laid back goofy streak, Steve enjoyed being the jokester but he was also very compassionate with a big heart.
In addition to his parents, Steve also was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, David Murphy.
Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife of fifty years, Susan; their three “miracle” children, Lauren Higdon and Wesley Higdon both of Owensboro and McKenzie Heiderer (Jeff) of Aurora, Colorado; three grandchildren, Tyler Higdon, Jack and Bo Heiderer; brother, Tom Higdon (Donna); sister, Lee Ann Murphy; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am Thursday, October 3 at Jesus House, 3830 Hwy 54, Ste. 301 Owensboro, KY 42303 with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the family of Steve Higdon c/o Glenn Funeral Home, 900 Old Hartford Rd. Owensboro, KY 42303.
