Stephen Rollie Shown

Stephen Rollie Shown, 63, of Owensboro, passed away on March 11, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System after a courageous three year battle with cancer. Steve was born in Owensboro to the late Delmar and Anna Ruth Shown. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy after high school.

After Steve's tour of duty he returned to Owensboro, attended and graduated from Brescia University with a degree in accounting. He had his own accounting firm for several years prior to joining the team at Clark's Restaurant Service (CRS One Source) as Controller. Steve worked for CRS for 22 years- he was proud to be a part of CRS and was dedicated to his job and fellow employees who are and forever will be a part of him.

Steve was an avid golfer for many years. His membership was at Windridge Country Club. Steve also had an inner drive for the game of poker. He was a student of the game-he studied many books on the subject while planning one day to play in Las Vegas.

When not in the office, Steve could often be found in his beloved outdoors, gardening, landscaping and riding his Kubota tractor to maintain and beautify his home and property.

Steve is survived by his wife of 15 years, Jackie Shown; daughter, Nicole Shown of Atlanta, GA; son, Demian Shown of Louisville, KY; stepson, Logan Stovall , stepdaughter, Lindsay Stovall both of Owensboro; sisters, Suzanne Shown of Memphis, TN, Judy Grant of Eugene, OR and Jane Miller of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Joe Shown (Karen) of Valdosta, GA, John Shown of Owensboro and Rob Shown (Wynne) of Aransas Pass, TX; several nieces, nephews and in-laws. He will also be missed by his three beloved dogs, Frisky, Lulu and Sam.

Steve Shown was a compassionate man. While battling cancer he remained committed to others and always tried to help the less fortunate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brescia University or the Salvation Army.

The memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Steve's pastor, Rick Grover of Owensboro Christian Church, will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00 pm until service time at the funeral home. A committal service will be at held at Owensboro Memorial Gardens on Thursday at 9:00 am.
