Stephen "Steve" R. Hoffmann, 59, of Owensboro, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Ernest and Genevieve (Headey) Hoffmann and was a union millwright of Local #1080. He was of the Protestant Faith and a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1972. He was involved in the Bicentennial, Civil War and WWII Living Histories, and volunteered at the Patton Museum in Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He collected and restored antiques and war memorabilia.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Betty Hoffmann a son; John Michael Hoffmann daughter; Katie Hoffmann and her fiance, Omari M. McFarlane, one grandson; Omari Elijah McFarlane, all of Owensboro, one uncle, several cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 27, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Patton Museum or to the charity of the donor's choice.
