Stella Mae Faith, 97, formerly of Owensboro, died Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Dogwood Retreat Assisted Living in Hartford. She was born in McHenry on September 2, 1911 to the late Phocian and Molly (Chapman) Wade. She was part owner of Faith Tool and Die for over 38 years. Mrs. Faith lived on her own until she was 96 years old and enjoyed sewing and flower gardening all that time. She was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church, and as a big fan of Kentucky basketball, she enjoyed watching their games and the Atlanta Braves baseball. She had played basketball in high school. She loved spending time with her family.
Her husband Charles Faith preceded her in death in 1999, after 63 years of marriage, and her son, James H. Faith in 1998. Brothers Frankie Wade, Leonard Wade, and a sister Era Case also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her grandchildren; David Faith of Utica, Debbie Conner of Jacksonville, Alabama, and Darlene (Jeff) Ward of Hartford, Ky., great-grandchildren; Christa (Alex) Hardesty, Nick Ward, J.D. (Heather) Faith, Jesse (Jessica) Minton, Jason Ward, Shawn Conner,Matthew Aud,and great-great- grandchildren; Emma Hardesty, Ava Hardesty, Lilly Faith, and Liam Minton, and a sister; Vera Powell, and a niece and several nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
