Stella Piercy Coffey

Stella Piercy Coffey, 94, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Owensboro. She was born on December 26, 1916 in Wayne County, KY to the late Ambrose "Dood" Piercy and Leila Piercy Williams.

She was a member of the Wesleyan Christian Center. She was retired after 33 years with General Electric Company of Owensboro. She was a volunteer at the Owensboro Medical Health System for 21 years and was a lifetime member of the Owensboro-Daviess Co. Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary. She also belonged to the Christian Women's Club and Senior Citizens Center.

Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hershal Coffey in 1979 and by two brothers, Cecil and Knox Piercy and one sister, Georgia Hutchison, all of Monticello, KY.

She is survived by one sister, Ruby Ludwig of Texas and one sister-in-law, Maydell Piercy of Monticello. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, two special care-givers, Bruce and Nina Coffey and two very special neighbors, Wanda and Bob Grady, all of Owensboro.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 23, at Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home in Monticello with burial following in Elk Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro and then after 12 Noon Thursday at Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home in Monticello.
