Stanley Vavro, 78, of 1719 Sterling Valley Dr., Owensboro, formerly of Edison, N. J., passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the home of his daughter. He was born in Vandling, Pa. to the late Stanley & Julia Fortz Vavro. He had his own landscaping business for years and enjoyed that and gardening. He was of the Catholic faith and was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Jeglinski and Stella Nelson and a brother, Frank Vavro.
Surviving is his daughter and her husband, Beverly and Joe Maxwell of Owensboro, three grandchildren, Cynthia Curtis, Kimberly Maxwell, and Larry Joe Maxwell, all of Owensboro, two great grandchildren, Chelsea Maxwell and Madison Curtis, three sisters, Anne Tutics of Union, N. J., Rose Filipski of Somerville, N. J., and Julie Murin of Vandling, Pa., a brother, Joseph Vavro of Binghamton, N. Y., and his best friend who was like a 2nd daughter to him, Debbie Donald of Edison, N. J.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 20, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday with prayers at 7:00 P.M. and after 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
