Stanley K. Moseley, 91, of Owensboro, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at his home. He was born August 8, 1916 to the late Norval Wesley and Alma Stinnett Moseley in Whitesville. He was married to Dorothy Louise Blythe on April 13, 1943 in Owensboro. His loving wife preceded him to join our Lord on September 2, 2003.
Stanley enlisted in the United States Army in 1942, serving in the Medical Service Corps until 1946. Upon his discharge, he was employed by a newly organized medical organization, called the Veterans Administration. He served the VA as a Hospital Administrator until his retirement in 1974. His assignments took him to Memphis, Lexington, Akron, OH, Washington, DC, and St. Louis, MO. He retired to Owensboro, his favorite city.
Stanley was always interested in his family history, as he heard stories from his grandfather, John Wesley Moseley. John Wesley, who died at the age of 100 in 1936, was the last living confederate civil war veteran in Daviess County. Hearing stories of his ancestors, who arrived in Daviess and Ohio County in the late 1790's or early 1800's, he was always curious about who they were and where they came from. He spent many years researching the family "tree" and determined that he was descended from a Lt. Robert Moseley, a revolutionary war veteran, who received a land grant in Ohio County, Kentucky as payment for his service to the nation during the revolutionary war.
He enjoyed cross word puzzles and weekly meetings of the "no-name" club at the Daviess County Library. He was committed to exercise and walked each day at the health park. He said it was hard to be motivated to do it but it keeps me going. A good message for us all.
Survivors include his son, Kelley Moseley of Houston, TX.
