Stanley Edward Alexander

Stanley Edward "Ed" Alexander, 76, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Daviess County on February 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Stanley and Marie Scifres Alexander; was retired from Whirlpool; owned and operated Skateland from 1966 to 1978; and was a member of the Hall Street Baptist Church. Mr. Alexander was very active in the Owensboro Lion's Club and was a past District Governor and a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and was retired from the Naval Reserve.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Glenda Nell Peyton Alexander; sons, Ronald Edward Alexander and his wife Dianne of Mason, OH and Robert Wayne Alexander and his wife Joyce of Owensboro; a daughter, Joy Kay Gager of Evansville; grandchildren, Eric Alexander, Daniel Alexander, and Jacob Rowe; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Alexander of Greenwood, SC.

Services are 4 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Franklin Skaggs officiating. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hall Street Baptist Church, Activity Center.
