Sondra Ann Miles Johnson, 74, of Owensboro, better known as “Sam” to her family and friends, died Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Heartford House of Owensboro. She was born on September 16, 1951, in Daviess County. She retired from Sazerac. Sam enjoyed playing and coaching softball and youth bowling leagues. She loved playing cards, bunko, poker, dominoes, and was an avid UK basketball fan and playing online games. Sam most enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was known for her quick wit and ability to make people laugh.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Dale Johnson, her parents Ross Lee Miles deceased in March 1960 and Lettie Feldpausch Miles Bickwermert and Charles Bickwermert; sister Connie Bickwermert and two grandchildren Benjamin and Austin McLean.
Survivors include her daughter Tracy Bauder and spouse Rebecca of Catlettsburg, KY; a son Michael McLean and his wife Shannon of Newburgh, IN; two stepchildren Melissa Johnson Blackburn and Richard Johnson II. of Owensboro; two granddaughters Addison Bauder, and Victoria McLean; Step grandchildren include Jessica Barber, Matt Johnson and Nicole Willett. Three sisters, Rhonda Lynn Lee, Sherry Miles Orth and husband Steve, Jeannie Miles Foster and husband David, bonus sister Carol Howard and husband Victor, dear friend Michelle Ayers and her faithful fur-baby Minnie, all of Owensboro; as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass be 1:00 p.m., May 26, 2026, at Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church in Owensboro, where visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. Fr. Ray Clark will be officiating, Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Owensboro, KY. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
