Shirley Ann Wink Zoglmann

February 15, 1938 — November 13, 2017

Shirley Ann Wink Zoglmann, 79, of Owensboro, completed her earthly journey on Monday, November 13, 2017 and joined those who have been waiting so long to welcome her to her final home, her dear husband, Kenneth Gerald Zoglmann, and two of her sons, Lawrence Gale Zoglmann and Kenneth Alan Zoglmann, as well as her parents, her brother Simon, and her sisters, Juanita Wink Kaelin and Mary Elizabeth Wink House.

She is survived by a son, Douglas Scott Zoglmann and wife Sharon Horton Zoglmann, daughters, Sharon Zoglmann Rice and husband Jeff and Laura Zoglmann Cavins and husband Brian, her beloved grandchildren, Clint Montgomery, Lacey Zoglmann Rockhold and husband Charles, Brittany Gernatt, Brian L. Cavins, Jr. and wife Rachael, Shane Cavins, Sherie Cavins, Kensley Cavins, Brianna Cavins, and Paige Cavins, six great grandchildren, brother, Maurice Wink and wife Shirley, sisters, Geraldine Howard and husband Mendel, Thelma Cecil and husband Jimmy, and Yvonne Simmons, and a sister-in-law, Rita Hardesty Wink, and a brother-in-law, Paul Kaelin.

Shirley, the fourth child of Simon Bernard Wink, Sr. and Thelma Hayden Wink, was born and raised in the Daviess County community of Browns Valley along with two brothers, Simon, Jr. and Maurice, and five sisters, Juanita, Mary Elizabeth, Geraldine, Thelma, and Yvonne. A graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School, Shirley worked for a short time at the General Electric plant in Owensboro before starting a family. Along with her husband Kenneth, she lived a life on the land, working beside him as a partner in the fields and in the home, raising their five children, and actively participating in her church. Her skill in the kitchen, preserving food and preparing it, meant that her family would never want for meals even in harder times. No one sitting at her table during tobacco-cutting season ever went away hungry. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, quilting, ceramics, woodworking, reading, and gardening. There were few things that she could not accomplish when she set her mind to it. Shirley was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00-8:00 P.M. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers at 5:00 P.M. Visitation will continue Friday starting at Noon at St. Pius X Catholic Church followed by a funeral Mass there at 2:00 P.M. after which she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Kenneth, and her sons, Alan and Gale, at Resurrection Cemetery.

The family offers grateful thanks to the sisters and the staff of the Carmel Home infirmary and asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Shirley's memory to the Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303. Condolences to the family may be placed at www.glenncares.com.
