Shirley “Nanny” Taylor, 82, of Masonville passed away Saturday, October 24, 2026, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of W. Kentucky. The Daviess County native was born September 14, 1944, as one of six children to the late Edward Manaway and Louise Rowan Manaway. Shirley was a hairdresser earlier in life and then retired from Owensboro Health Regional Hospital after 20 years. She was an excellent cook and loved all the holidays, especially Halloween. Shirley thoroughly enjoyed traveling to many places, distant and near, with her close friends. She was a nurturing person who lived to please the Lord and help others. Those who knew her well knew she was sassy and a firecracker and you could never get anything over on her.
In addition to her parents, Shirley also was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie “Pops” Taylor in 2009; siblings, Chuck Manaway Jr, Gilbert Manaway, and Patricia Shrueh.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Brad Cozart and wife LeVon of Masonville; stepchildren, DD (Alane) Taylor, Tim (Jennifer) Taylor, and Susan (James) McFadden; 12 grandchildren who affectionately called her Nanny, Allie Riney (Evan), Maggie Cozart, Carlen Cozart, Raylen Cozart, Ryan Taylor, Nolan Taylor (April), Caleb Taylor (Morgan), Chase Taylor (Emma), Kami Shearn (Paul), Seth Taylor (Jade), Megan McFadden (Brian Hoffman), Laurel McFadden (Jeb Wood), Jackson Taylor and Scarlett Taylor; a multitude of great grandchildren; siblings, Darlene Morris (Jerry) and April Henderson; good friends and helpful caretakers, Lois Jarrett and Janet Miller; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Shirley Taylor will be 10:00 am Thursday, October 29 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 pm and Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
