Shirley Martin Russ

Shirley Martin Russ, 73, of Crystal Lake, IL passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Crystal Pines Nursing Home in Crystal Lake. Born in Owensboro on March 2, 1938, she was the daughter of the late James Bernard and Alma Gertrude Martin; was a former member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; and worked as a cook at several schools. Mrs. Russ loved to read and play cards and was the resident advisor at the Crystal Pines Nursing Home. But most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. Russ in 1995 and a son, Jaime D. Russ in 2002.

Surviving are her children, Lisa (Patrick) Harenza and Deborah A. Ratliff of Crystal Lake, Gary W. Russ of McHenry, IL, and Sheri (Allen) Chandler of Morganfield, KY; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Russ of Symrna, TN; grandchildren, Lori Ratliff, Chad Ratliff, Casey Chandler, Justin Russ, Jessie Harenza, Derek Chandler, Madison Neal, Kelsey Harenza, Frank Harenza; a great-grandchild, Conner Chandler; step-grandchildren, Brian Easley and Nicole Easley; and step-great-grandchildren, Miah Morales and Shelly Jiminez.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory followed by burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday and after 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
