`Shirley Lee "Doc" Powers

"Doc" S. L. Powers, 83, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at his home. He was born September 6, 1934, in Hancock Co. to the late Douglas Frederick and Zula Alzena Buck Powers. He was the owner/operator for many years of the Riverview Motel in Hawesville until his retirement in 1994. Doc was a U. S. Air Force veteran, was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, working in his yard, and was an accomplished pool player. He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Powers in 2013, brothers, Harold Powers, and Verne Powers, and sisters, Hazel Adkins, Fredia Divine, Gladys Malone, and Margie Keown.

Surviving are his daughters, Roxie Roby and husband Robert, Jeanne Fort and husband David, and LeAnn Little, all of Owensboro, eight grandchildren, Shelby Bratcher, Matt Roby, Blake Marksberry, Andrea Fort, Tonya Bryant, Tyler Powers, Chase Vanhooser, and Justice Little, two step grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith and Sara Fort, eight great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren, a brother, Don Powers and wife Agnes of Owensboro, and two sisters, Mary Doug Nugent and Carolyn Carter and husband George, all of Owensboro.

Out of respect of Doc's wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
