Shirley Ann Poole

Shirley A. Brey Poole, 74, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System after a five year battle with lung cancer. She was born on October 14, 1938 in Whitesville to the late Joseph and Noma Sadler Brey. She had worked at American Tobacco Company and the former Elizabeth Placid Place Nursing Home in her younger years. Shirley loved gardening, canning, and taking care of her flowers. She was a member of Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church and had received a Sophia Award for her volunteer work. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy G. Poole, Sr. on December 16, 2008, two brothers, Joe Brey and Jonny Coogle, and two sisters, Francis Sloan and Barbara Steffey.

Surviving are a son, Roy G. Poole, Jr. of Owensboro, a daughter, Mary Lundy and husband Hobert of Owensboro, three grandchildren, Jerry Lundy and wife Stephanie of Ohio Co., Amanda Lundy of Philpot, and Brandy Lundy of Owensboro, and five great grandchildren, Danielle Lundy, Anna, Allyssa, and Katherine Lundy, and Dylan Fricker.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 26, at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday with prayers at 4:30 P.M. and after 8:30 A.M. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
