Shirley A. Gray

Shirley A. Gray, 72, of Owensboro, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at her home. She was born on March 3, 1939 in Hardinsburg, Kentucky. She was employed with Garden Grace Senior Companions. Mrs. Gray attended Guiding Star Baptist Church in Lewisport, Kentucky. She enjoyed yard sales, riding bikes, and spending time with her family. Shirley retired from S.W. Anderson's Department Store in 1992.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Edward Duncan Sr. and Marcella Duncan, her first husband, Paul A. Dean, and a brother, Jesse Edward Duncan Jr.
Surviving is her husband, Wilbur Thomas Gray, ten children, Paulette (Thomas) Robertson of Virginia Beach, VA., Jesse (Carrie) Dean, Marcella (Tracy) Sutherland, all of Owensboro, Tericia Murphy of Virginia Beach, VA., Geraldine Owsley, Glen Dean, Darlesta (Jeff) Gardner, Mack (Angie) Dean, Octavia Hagan and Anthony Dean, all of Owensboro, two step-children, Pastor Sophie (Freeman) Ditto of Irvington and Johnny Dean of Hardinsburg. A sister Emily (Sylvester) Buford of Owensboro, as well as a host of in-laws, along with 39 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 16, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Church For All, 400 East Fourth Street, and after 10 a.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Church For All. Burial will follow in Hardinsburg Cemetery in Hardinsburg. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Shirley A. Gray Family in care of Marcella Sutherland, 721 Wing Avenue, Owensboro.
