Shirley Jeanne Rumage Calhoun, 74, Highway 56, Owensboro, died, Friday, August 30, 2002 at the Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Indianapolis native was retired from the Hy Klas Paint Company in Louisville after 17 years. She was a member of the Precious Blood Catholic Church. She spent much of her life in Curdsville, KY and was a direct descendant of the first school teacher in KY, Jane Coomes.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph E. ''Bill'' Calhoun; a son, Stephen Lyn Calhoun of Louisville; a daughter, Diane M. Calhoun-French of Louisville; a brother, H.J. Rumage, Jr. of West Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 10 A.M. Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Curdsville with private burial in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Precious Blood Church Restoration Fund, 3306 Fenmore St., Owensboro, KY 42301.
