Shirley Houston Belcher

Shirley Houston Belcher, 65, of 2910 South Griffith in Owensboro, died at her residence on July 18, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Stateler and Jessie Baird Houston. Two brothers John Randolph Houston and Samuel Walker Houston preceded her in death.

The Daviess County native, was a member of Third Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir for many years. She was a local businesswoman for 15 years, she won many state music awards while in school, she loved her family and their genealogy, she, also, loved her grandchildren, traveling, flower gardening and was an avid reader of historical novels.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert G. Belcher; a daughter and son-in-law, Stacy Belcher and Brian Cox of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Elizabeth (Beth) Cox and Clay Robert Cox both of Owensboro; and a sister, Dorothy Edgeworth of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held on Monday, July 21, 2003 at 3:30 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2003 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and after 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
