Shirl Nantz-Douglas, 70, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 at her home. She was born April 13, 1943 in Daviess Co., KY to the late Doss and Mamie Pearl Spence Nantz. Shirl had been a Home Health Nurse for Green River Health. She had attended Grace Chapel and Good Shepherd Church. She was a former member of the Eastern Star, enjoyed shopping, and attending concerts. Everybody called her "G-Ma" and she was a very loving mother, not only to her children, but to many. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond "Doodle" Nantz in 2013, a sister, Mary Lawrence, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Proffitt in 2006.
Surviving are her children, who all reside in Owensboro, Debbie (David) Knight, Vivian Proctor, Glen (Pam) Douglas, Bobby (Beth) Douglas, and Carl (Kim) Douglas, 16 grandchildren, Alicia, Ryan, Joey, Nicki, Levi, Amber, Zada, Zia, Misty, Chrissy, Jessica, Alisa, Matthew, Samantha, Taylor, and Jordan, 15 great grandchildren, a brother, Bobby Nantz of Alabama, her best friend Rita Young of Owensboro, and her love, Joe Sowders of Owensboro.
Services will be 6:30 P.M. Friday, March 7, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Friday.
