Sherman L. Thompson, 65, of Owensboro passed away Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in West Louisville on August 8, 1945, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Towery Thompson, was retired from Century Aluminum where he worked for over 35 years; was working at Horn Service Company; and was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and the Star Sunday School Class. Mr. Thompson was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jo Anne Horn Thompson; children, Wendy Ward of Lebanon, TN, Jarred Fullenwider and his wife Kim of Hawesville, and Tiffany Stengell and her husband Steve of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Cortney Paris, Evan Ward, Sarah Fullenwider, Christian Fullenwider, and Brody Fullenwider, and Eliana Stengell; and brothers and sisters, David Wayne Thompson and his wife Sharon of West Louisville, Myrna Smith and her husband Roger, Minnie Stewart and her husband John, and Debbie Clark and her husband Dan all of Owensboro, Connie Newton and her husband Rick of Louisville, and Jeff Thompson and his wife Holli of Rockport, IN.
Services are 12 noon Monday, November 29, 2010 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Tom James and Jim Foreman officiating followed by burial in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday and after 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
