Sherman Wayne Hendrix

Sherman Wayne Hendrix, 72, of 530 Graystone Dr., Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at his home. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Thomas J. & Ivy Jane Hope Hendrix who were natives of Dunmor, Ky. He was retired after 30 years from Alcoa Aluminum Co. He was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church and formerly was the owner and member of the Owensboro Church of Jesus Christ which was located at the corner of 3rd St. and Frazier and where he and his wife provided many times most of the music for their services. He was a member and the leader of the Fistful of Country Band. He had performed at many Country & Bluegrass festivals including the Owensboro Bluegrass Festival. He was a veteran with the National Guard. He also loved all types of gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Jean Hendrix on July 11, 2003.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Atkinson and Patricia Millay, both of Owensboro, three sons, Benjamin Wayne Hendrix, Glenn Stewart Hendrix, and Richard Anthony Hendrix, all of Owensboro, nine grandchildren, Tara Shrewsberry, Casey Millay, Bradley Hendrix, Amanda Lanham, Amber Marie Hendrix, Crystal Hendrix, Stacy Benningfield, Jason Atkinson, and Laura Austin, and she was also blessed with 10 great grandsons and two great grandddaughters, a brother, Austin Hendrix of Dunmor, Ky., and two sisters, Rena Montgomery and Margaret Louise Simpson, both of Owensboro

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 15, at Crosspointe Baptist Church with entombment following in the Rosehill Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and after 11:00 A.M. Friday at the church.
