Sharon Carol Smith

Sharon Carol Smith, 67, of Philpot, passed October 21, 2026, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born November 11, 1958, in Owensboro, to Doris and the late C.L. “Cyclone” Smith. She was a member of Third Baptist Church. Sharon worked for UPS for 15 years and loved playing golf. One of Sharon’s other passions from early in life was horseback riding. Having never met a stranger, it came as no surprise that she was the life of the party.

Sharon is survived by her mother, Doris Shutt Smith; brother, C.L. Smith, Jr.; sister, Sheila Steitler; nieces, Natalie Richardson (Jon), and Jessica Swanson (Joey) and her children, Wilder and Layla.

She is survived by many friends, including her best friends, Lisa Leonard, Melody Hill, Tracy Askins, and Becky Baker, who were all with her through the past 4 months of cancer treatment and home care. Sharon also leaves behind her extended friends and family in her second home in Texas.

A special thanks to Hospice of Western Kentucky for the care they provided. Sharon was truly a fighter.
