Sharon K. Sackrider Craig, 66, of Owensboro left in the arms of Jesus, surrounded by family and friends, Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born in Annapolis, Illinois to the late Wayne and Phyllis Chapman Sackrider.
Sharon was a 1968 graduate of Hutsonville (IL) High School and a 1969 graduate of Lakeland College of Cosmetology in Mattoon, Illinois. She practiced as a beautician for several years before working at First National Bank in Robinson, IL from 1970 until 1981. After moving to Owensboro she joined PNC Bank in 1987 and retired in 2004.
She regularly attended Christ Community Church and was also a member of Owensboro Christian Church. Sharon enjoyed being with her church family. She was a devoted wife, mother, "Mimi" and sister who enjoyed U.K. Basketball, the beach and outdoors, especially manicuring her lawn. She also loved playing the card game Canasta. She was the queen of Canasta! Throughout her life Sharon was very dedicated to her family; She loved to cook and bake as part of quality time with them.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Terry L. Craig in 2015; a son, Petty Officer Jared A. Craig in 2013; and an infant sister, Charlotte Sackrider.
She is survived by a daughter, Tara Garrison and husband Brad of Philpot, KY; a son, Damon Craig and wife Samantha of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Maddy and Cece Craig, Kaylee and Collin Garrison; several cousins; nieces; nephews; sisters, Marie Miller and husband Robert of Fairfield Glade, TN, Louise Newbold of Oblong, IL and Doris Tracy and husband Keith of Robinson, IL; a brother, Larry Sackrider and wife Charlotte of Oblong, IL; aunts, Ruby Chapman and Louise Black; and an uncle, Lloyd Chapman.
The funeral service will be at 2:30 PM Sunday, August 21 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Pastor Myke Templeton will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sorgho.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1 PM until 6 PM and after 12:30 on Sunday at the funeral home.
