Sharon May-Johnson, 47, of 3331 Meadowland Drive, Owensboro, met her heavenly Father on the evening of October 30, 2004, after a valiant struggle following a sudden and unexpected medical event. She was surrounded by family, friends and colleagues. Sharon was born, one of twin daughters, to J.C. and Geneva Rowan May in Daviess County, KY, on January 2, 1957.
Sharon was a graduate of Apollo High School class of 1975. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Western Kentucky University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and Student Government Affairs. She received her Juris Doctorate degree from Salmon P. Chase School of Law.
Throughout her legal career, she was engaged in private practice and was a Jefferson County, KY public defender. She was employed by the Daviess County Public School System at Deer Park Elementary School. She was an active member of the Democratic Party, Daviess County Bar Association and Kentucky Bar Association. She was also a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
Surviving are her two sons, which were her greatest joy in life, Paul James (PJ) May-Johnson (11) and Charles Edward May-Johnson (9); her parents, James Charles and Geneva Ann May of Owensboro; three sisters, Deborah Nunley and her husband, Marvin of Owensboro, Susan Taylor-Drach and her husband, Keith of Lexington, and twin sister, Karon May Greenwell and her husband, Patrick of Owensboro. Also important in Sharon's life was her cousin, Linda Gibson Henning of Crossville, IL. In addition there are numerous adoring nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, at Trinity Episcopal Church with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 Noon until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home, and 9:00 until 11:00 AM Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Troop # 24, %Settle Memorial UMC, 201 East 4th St., Owensboro, KY, 42301.
