Shannon Peterson, 36, of 633 Princeton Parkway, Owensboro passed away on Thursday October 11, 2007 at her home. She was born in Madisonville and was a member of the Free Welcome Church. She was a great joy and inspiration to all who knew her as a friend or as their helper at Winn-Dixie or Kroger where she worked. She was a Special Olympics participant for several years and won a Gold Medal in 1991 at the World Swimming Competition along with numerous others awards. She was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a graduate of Apollo High School. She loved scrapbooking, latch hooking, going to church, her cat Sam but, most of all, she loved her nieces and nephews and her fiancDavid Fogle. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Oscar Ezell, her maternal grandparents, Oather and Jessie Welborn, and her paternal grandparents, Patsy and Adrian Peterson.

Surviving are her mother, Rita Ezell of Owensboro, her father, Terry Peterson of Custer Park, Ill., a brother, Bruce Peterson and his wife Rebecca of Yanceyville, N. C., three nieces, Elizabeth, Sierra, and Brianna Peterson and three nephews, Michael, David, and Wesley Peterson.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 15, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, Memorial Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105-1942 or Special Olympics, Daviess Co., Area II, P. O. Box 764, Owensboro, Ky. 42302.
