Sarah Fischer

Sarah ''Sally'' Adkisson Fischer, 68, formerly of Owensboro, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at her home in Gallatin, TN. Born in Stanley, KY, a daughter of the late Lansing and Mary Helen Mitchell Adkisson, she was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School and attended Brescia University. She and her family later lived in Bowling Green, Owensboro, Lubbock, TX, Dallas, TX, and Gallatin, TN. Sally was a devoted mother, grandmother, accomplished homemaker, and corporate wife. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville, TN, had previously served as Chairwoman of the Parish Council of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Bowling Green, and had been a member of St. Stephen Cathedral in Owensboro. Mrs. Fischer was a member of the Advisory Boards of the Salvation Army in Owensboro, Bowling Green, and Lubbock, and was a Realtor, having been associated with Steve Castlen Realty in Owensboro. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Fred Adkisson, and a sister Pat Hawley.

Her family includes her husband of 45 years, R. Earl Fischer; her sons, Scott Fischer and his wife Kelli of Gallatin, Todd Fischer and his wife Vickie of Marietta, GA, Drew Hawley and his wife Lisa of Cloverport; her daughters, Joy Freeman and her husband Todd of Shelbyville, KY, Andrea Brockman and her husband Mills of Richmond, KY; nine grandchildren; and her sister Shirley Clark of Owensboro.

Services, officiated by the Rev. John Vaughan and the Rev. Edward Bradley, are at 12:05 p.m. Saturday at St. Stephen Cathedral. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 6:00 p.m. Friday.
