Sandra Sturgeon

Heaven got a little sweeter this week. Our angel on earth, Sandra "Friendly" Sturgeon (Mimi) passed away gracefully on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born, raised and happily lived her entire life in Owensboro, Kentucky. Everyone would agree that Sandra was the true definition of a "Lady". She had a beautiful giving heart and always put the needs of others in front of herself. When asked what the two most important things in her life were she answered: "My family and my God."

Sandra graduated from Owensboro Senior High and married her childhood sweetheart, Charles "Sonny" Sturgeon. (Sturg) They were blessed with four loving daughters. After spending most her life staying home caring for her family she went on to become a real estate agent and shined her light within that industry. She was always very active in her community and was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Her "team" includes her husband of more than 50 years, "The Coach" Charles Sturgeon; four daughters Stephanie Fiorella (Aldo Vasquez), Stacy Sturgeon, Sydell Jolly (Kevin Jolly) and Sunny Sturgeon Terry (Brian Terry); eight grandchildren Nicholas Fiorella (Dennise Fiorella), Kasey Jolly (Nikki Jolly), Evey Bassion (Dave Bassion), Kodey Jolly, McKenzi Jolly, Alexa Swihart, Hayward Swihart and Sydney Claire Swihart; eight great children Jack Fiorella, Becca Bassion, Elle Bassion, Brylei Brake, Tyler Murray, Sofia Fiorella, Kate Jolly and Charlie Bassion; brother John Sargent.

Services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
