Sandra Vanover Dalton

Sandra Vanover Dalton, of Owensboro, passed away July 15, 2025. She was born in Owensboro to the late Allen and Sophronia Alford Vanover on July 3rd. Sandra was a longtime member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and a proud graduate of Owensboro High School. In her youth, she cherished being part of the Rainbow Girls. Later in life, she became a lifetime member of the Eastern Star Henderson chapter. She was also an active member of Beta Sigma Phi, an international women’s society focused on friendship and service.

Sandra had a deep love of caring for children. She was a devoted presence at Settle Memorial, where she taught children’s classes and spent 37 years sharing her warmth and kindness in the church nursery. While caring for all children was one of Sandra’s greatest passions, her devotion to her home and family was always at the heart of everything she did. Sandra studied at both Brescia College and Kentucky Wesleyan College. She and her husband were avid fans and supporters of KWC basketball, holding season tickets for many years and often traveling to cheer on the team at major games.

She was intentional in her love and attention—whether actively involved in the Band Boosters while making extra time for her daughter, or ensuring the everyday details of life were thoughtfully managed. Sandra found joy in watching game shows where she could use her keen history knowledge, working puzzles, reading, and cheering on U.K. basketball. Above all, she was most devoted to her faith, her husband, and her daughter.

Sandra was also preceded in death by her husband, Sidney E. Dalton and brother, Hamilton Nation.

She is survived by her daughter, Ramona (Brian) Sharp of LaGrange, KY.

The funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private at Elmwood Cemetery.
