Sandra Laverne Atkinson

Sandra Lyle Atkinson, 58, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1959 in Agana, Guam. Sandra had been a Forensic Records Specialist for Aegis Sciences Corporation. She was a published writer of stories and piano music arrangements and was active in the Theater Workshop of Owensboro. Sandra would always "Light Up The Room" with her smile, heart, and compassion. Her daughter, Marlee, said she was the best mother anyone could ever hope to have. She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Wayne Lyle on June 13, 2010 and a sister, Vicki Combs on June 13, 2013.

Surviving are her daughter, Marlee Atkinson of Owensboro, her mother, Lenette Lyle of Owensboro, sisters, Chris Hart and husband Branson of Owensboro and Lisa Mascenik of Nashville, TN, a brother, Joe Lyle and wife Deborah of New Jersey, a brother-in-law, John Combs of Owensboro, Carla Simmons of Lebanon, TN, who was like a sister to her, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

Services will be 6:00 P.M. Sunday June 25, 2017 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
