Samuel C. "Zeak" Rickard, 80, of Sacramento, died Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Riverside Manor in Calhoun. He was the owner of Zeak's Y Market from 1958 to 1970. He later retired from Goodyear in Madisonville, Kentucky in 1994. Mr. Rickard served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1954, and was stationed in England during the Korean War.
He loved going fishing, and to flea markets, along with socializing with his buddies at the Bluejay Caf. He took care of his birds and squirrels that he also loved watching. His favorite sports teams were the Cincinnati Reds and Kentucky Wildcats on television.
He was previously married to his first wife; Dovie Settles Rickard, and his second wife ; Glenda Morris Rickard.
Survivors also include his children; Randy Rickard of Sacramento, Angela Gail Stewart of Bremen, and Terri Denise Rickard of Sacramento, five grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Zeak's wish was to be cremated and his family will receive friends at Sacramento United Methodist Church from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the church with burial in the church cemetery following. Online condolences may be expressed at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
