Ruth Page Mitchell Conway

Ruth Page Mitchell Conway, 92, of Owensboro passed away on Saturday May 19, 2018 surrounded by her loving children, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Mrs. Conway was born July 19, 1925 in Webster County to the late Leonard Leslie Mitchell and Onie Page Mitchell. Ruth graduated Valedictorian from Clay High School in Webster County, and attended Western Kentucky University. She worked alongside her husband, Pete, at Sturgis Milling before then becoming the first female vice president at Farmers State Bank where she worked for many years. Ruth also served on the board of trustees for Union County Methodist Hospital. She was a long-time member of Sturgis United Methodist Church before moving to Owensboro and becoming a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.

Ruth was also preceded in death by her dear husband of 52 years, George C. "Pete" Conway; a sister, Sarah Richardson; and a brother Leonard Mitchell.

She is survived by her daughters, Leslie Carpenter and her husband, Chip, of Owensboro and Ellen Page Conway of Evansville; a son, Peter Conway and his wife, Lorrie, of Louisville; grandchildren, Chris Conway (Margaret), Margaret Gleason (Jack), Katie Whitt (Adam), and Trip Carpenter; great grandchildren, John, Ellie, and Rose; a sister, Betty Davis of Sturgis, KY; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Noon Saturday, May 26 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Carol Owen officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow later the same day at Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis, Kentucky.

The family would like to thank her wonderful friends and staff at One Park Place where she lived for several years.
