Ruth Marks

Ruth Marks, 91, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Wellington Parc. She was born January 6, 1924 in Daviess Co., to the late Frank and Ella Hundley Winstead. Ruth was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and had worked as a bookkeeper in the family business, Marks Automotive. She loved working in her yard, playing bridge, and volunteering at the Help Office where she had served on their board of directors. Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Marks in 1970, brothers, Wallace and Frank Winstead, sisters, Natalie Lanham and Lois Boeckman, and a grandson, Ryan Marks.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen Marks and wife Laura of Owensboro and Dr. Byron Marks and wife Cindy of Walton, a daughter, Jan Scherer and husband Peter of Knoxville, TN, five grandchildren, John and Kyle Marks, Joel Scherer, Jason and Lindsey Marks, four great grandchildren, a brother, Charles Winstead of Owensboro, a sister, Carol James and husband Roger of Owensboro, and a special friend, Louis Mattingly and his family.

The service will be Noon Saturday, January 9, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
